During her training at LAMDA Holly has had the opportunity to work with a number of talented writers and directors currently working within the acting profession.
Holly was lucky enough to work with David Edgar and Stephanie Dale on her debut public LAMDA production ’A Time to Keep’ in which Holly played the lead heroine, Mary Stickland, in a revival of a fast paced historical tale based on a Dorset community play. Holly relished the opportunity to take on a lead acting role and working with such prestigious writers proved to be an invaluable and extremely rewarding experience.
After performing at LAMDA's MacOwan Theatre the production transferred to the Old Laundry Theatre Bowness, as part of the annual Bowness Theatre and Film Festival. This has become a LAMDA tradition and provides invaluable experience in adapting a production to a difference space.
Holly also thoroughly enjoyed working with Mark Ravenhill on a devised piece in her Second Year at LAMDA. It was an honour to research and collaborate on a piece of theatre with such an exciting, experienced and revolutionary writer and Holly learnt a lot from the process. Over the last year Mark has developed the piece now entitled ’meatmoneyjesus’ and Holly is thrilled to have been cast in the final version. It will be extremely interesting to see how the original piece has been developed and Holly is very much looking forward to working with Mark Ravenhill again in what will be her final acting role at LAMDA.
If Holly could choose a favourite time at LAMDA it would be the times she worked with Joseph Blatchley. Holly was truly inspired by Joe’s approach to acting. Playing Olga in the Three Sisters under Joe’s direction was the most challenging but rewarding experience of Holly’s acting training. Holly also thoroughly enjoyed playing Mistress Quince in Joseph Blatchley’s magical production of ’A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. Holly had great fun taking on a comedy acting role and enjoyed the camaraderie of being a Mechanical. It was also a big contrast to the role Holly had played in ’A Time to Keep’.
Another highlight of Holly’s Second Year was playing Belinda in ‘The Provok’d Wife’ directed by Nicky Henson. Holly loved working with Nicky and learnt an enormous amount about the acting process from the experience.
